HANDLE HARD BETTER – PART ONE: WHEN THE HARD FINDS YOU
Jul 15, 2025
When I say, “You don’t need to avoid the hard—you need to handle it better,” people flinch.
Not the “I need a spa day” kind of hard. The kind that cracks something open inside you and forces you to sit in the rubble, wondering if you’ll ever be the same when you crawl out.
Hard like:
- Watching shitty people do shitty things and somehow still win — at least for a while.
- Losing clients, friends, money, and momentum all at once.
- Getting gut-punched by feedback that’s both true and hard to hear.
- Sitting with yourself and realizing you’re the problem.
- The grief that suffocates you after a loss.
And you didn’t get a warning. Life didn’t send a save-the-date before it sucker punched you. No heads-up. No calendar alert. Just bam — your foundation shifts.
I’ve watched faces tighten when I challenge the story they’ve attached to their struggle.
I don’t say it to be cruel.
I say it because I’ve lived it.
Because you have lived it.
And because I’m not here to make you comfortable—I’m here to remind you who you are when the comfort is gone.
We tend to admire “strong” and “resilient” people.
New Flash: Resilience is born in the HARD.
In the rage, the numbness, the self-doubt, the inconvenient truths.
In letting go of toxic positivity and finally naming the ache. The loneliness. The disappointment. The fear.
We talk about “handling hard” like it’s a skill you’ll eventually master.
But the truth? It’s not about mastering anything.
It’s about choosing how you respond when it hits.
It’s about choosing curiosity over avoidance.
Grace and perspective over judgment.
Accountability over victimhood.
That’s when the real work begins.
Not in the bounce-back. Not in the rebuild.
In the pause. In the sitting. In the brutal honesty of facing yourself and choosing.
If you’re in the middle of it right now, I won’t give you a pep talk.
I’ll give you a truth bomb: You don’t have to like it.
But you do have to own how you show up inside it.
So ask yourself:
- What do I need to feel, face, or finally let go of?
- How would the BEST version of me handle this?
- What conversation am I avoiding because I’m afraid of what it might expose?
Wherever this finds you—
- If you’re rebuilding after loss…
- If you’re rethinking everything you thought you wanted…
- If you’re just trying to stay afloat…
Let me say this:
- You don’t need a breakthrough today.
- You’re not weak for struggling.
- You’re not broken for questioning.
- You’re not behind for starting over.
You’re just learning how to handle hard better.
